Leicester is the biggest town in the county of East Midlands. Leicester is traditionally capital of Ceremonial county of Leicestershire. Leicester spreads on the river Soar and it´s near to the English National Forest. Leicester has a population of 285 100 inhabitants. Leicester is beautiful town with a lot of sightseeings and it´s also centre of food-processing industry in the UK. (The big company in production of potato crisps is settled in Leicester.)

Leicester History

Leicester is town with long history. Leicester was founded by British king Leir. (This king probably inspired W. Shakespeare for writing his tragedy The King Lear.) Small settlement was tenanted by Roman legions and it became important business centre.
